What is the process for admission?

St. Patrick Student Handbook contains the entire admissions policy and should be referenced if more information is needed. Our parish school gives priority of admissions to registered, supportive members of the parish first. In making decisions for admissions, the pastor and principal first refer to the date of parish registration. A registered member of the parish must have attended the New Parishioners orientation, filled out all parish forms and also returned a stewardship intention form. When an opening occurs, the pastor and principal consult and look at the most current information in order to arrive at a decision. Non-active parishioners, non parishioners, and non-Catholic families may also apply, but are considered only after students of registered parishioners have been placed.

What are the class sizes?

The St. Patrick School Board has set a policy for class size that is detailed in the Parent/Student Handbook . Current class sizes are the following: Kindergarten - 20 students with a full-time assistant: First, Second and Third grade - 25/26 with full time assistants in first and part-time assistants in second and third; Fourth - Eighth Grade - 30-31 with part-time assistants. Grades four through eight will lower class size to 25-26 as the primary classes have on a gradual basis.

What is the tuition?

St. Patrick is a stewardship parish. Therefore, there is no set tuition rate. Rather, parents are asked to take into consideration the cost of educating a student at St. Patrick School (approximately $70.00 a week), the needs of the parish as well as the building debt and arrive at a weekly contribution that will support these three different areas. By not setting a tuition amount, families are able to deduct their contribution at the end of the year and receive the tax benefit. Families are asked to sign a stewardship intention form so that the parish and school may develop a budget that will support the various ministries in the spring of each year.

What curriculum is followed at St. Patrick School?

St. Patrick School follows the curriculum framework developed by the Archdiocese of Louisville curriculum office. This framework outlines the national standards being met, the content to be covered and the skills to be taught at each grade level kindergarten through eighth grade. The Archdiocese also makes recommendations regarding textbook selection based on this curriculum framework. A copy is available at St. Patrick School as well as at the Archdiocese of Louisville curriculum office.

What other classes are offered in addition to the core curriculum areas?

Are standardized tests administered to the students at St. Patrick School and how do students perform?

Students in grades three, five, six and seven take the Terra Nova Test in the spring of each year. In comparison with the Archdiocese of Louisville Catholic elementary schools, St. Patrick performs well above the Archdiocesan school average as well as the national norm.
