Inclement Weather Policy
|
Posted below is the inclement weather policy for St. Patrick that can also be found in the Parent-Student Handbook. Please read it over carefully and listen to WHAS for information that concerns Catholic Elementary Schools only. We do not follow the announcement for Jefferson County Public Schools. If we are faced with a delayed opening, please note the following:
- St. Patrick will always start at 9:50 am if we are opening on a delayed basis. Every Catholic School has its own policy when dealing with a late opening. We do this to give salt trucks time to salt and sand Beckley Station Road, as it can be quite treacherous in ice and snow.
- The school doors will not open until 9:15 am on late opening days. This guarantees that we have supervision for students. The teachers and I may have difficulty getting to school on these days as well. To ensure that your child is safe please abide by the time above.
- The buses will run two hours late on days that we are delayed. If your pick-up time is normally 7:30am, then a delayed opening will mean that your child should be picked up at 9:30am. Please note that the busses may also be moving slowly and may not be on time.
- On days where school is on a normal schedule and you are questioning the safety of leaving at such an early time, please call the school office and let us know that you are going to wait a bit to make the drive into school. If your child arrives by 9:00 am on these mornings they will not be counted tardy.
