Confirmation

Confirmation is the Sacrament that completes initiation into the Catholic Faith.
During this sacrament, the Archbishop anoints the candidates with oil and confers on them the Gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Incoming 8th graders and older are eligible to begin the process. The preparation and conferral of the Sacrament will last approximately 10 months. High school students or young adults seeking confirmation may have class separately from the 8th graders.

Confirmation is for members of St. Patrick Parish, regardless of the school they attend.

Confirmation is administered as a part of the Youth Ministry Program, with Cindy Black, Youth Ministry Coordinator, and a volunteer team of adults. High school students help with the Days of Service and the Retreat.

Classes for those in St. Patrick School meet during their religion time at school. Those attending public schools will meet on Wednesday nights at PREP (Parish Religious Education Program) class.

Days of Service, Retreat, and a letter to the Archbishop are just some of the components.
Additional information about the program, fee, sponsors, and all forms will be presented at the April 26, 2006 Parent Meeting, 6:30pm in Schindler Hall.

Parents will need to bring a copy of child’s baptismal certificate with them to the meeting. A youth cannot be registered in the program until this step is complete.

Confirmation Information for Days of Service

Confirmation preparation is underway for incoming 8th graders. If you have not registered in the program you need to contact Cindy Black, Youth Ministry Coordinator at 719-0365 or (email)

There are 5 service components to Confirmation, with at least 2-3 being completed summer of 2008. Everyone needs to look over the dates below and see what works best for you and your child. Remember, every youth in Confirmation needs 2 “Days of Service”.  (Working VBS for 3/5 days counts as a Day of Service.)

Each day listed has a contact person for that day.  Please contact them directly.

We are concerned that we won’t have enough drivers for Tuesday, July 1 due to the Holiday Week. If you can volunteer this day, don’t delay in getting back to Shari Frank.
