Having fun, getting some exercise, meeting old friends, or making new ones, are all reasons to be involved with Athletics at St. Patrick Church. High school aged youth and their friends are invited to participate in our intramural sports leagues at the parish. CSAA High School Basketball League In only our 2nd year in this league we fielded 3 boy’s teams that played against other parish teams. We had 36 young men playing in the league, which ran from October through February. Some of the parish competition included the parishes of St. Albert, St. Bartholomew and St. Agnes. At the Junior Level, the freshman and sophomore teams were in a league against 23 other teams. As the season progressed, the team record showed only one loss. When tournament time arrived, the St. Patrick #1 team actually became the #1 team, and WON THE CITY TOURNAMENT. This is a new chapter to add in the St. Patrick history books: In only our 2nd year in the league, we came away as Champions. Our St. Patrick team at the Senior Level was one of 39 teams in the league, and faced fierce competition along the way. The season progressed quickly and at tournament time, some close scoring games created some tense moments for the fans. The tournament championship game found us without 4 key players. Giving it our all, we came up a little short, but still received the RUNNER UP TROPHY in the Senior League.
Way to go athletes and coaches! Sign ups for next season will begin in the fall of 2006. Keep checking for details. |
