Parish Life

The ministries and organizations of Parish Life seek in a variety of ways to strengthen relationships within our community connecting all members in Christ. Some of the ministries provide opportunities for social interaction and fellowship, others provide occasions for service and some offer both.

If you are a young mom, are mostly at home, feeling isolated sometimes from others, there’s the Mom and Me Playgroup, which gives your children a playdate with other children while offering you a social outing with other moms.

If you enjoy writing, photography, perhaps one of the communications ministries of the parish - The Emerald newsletter and our redesigned website - can be an outlet for you.

For men, there are intramural sports opportunities - softball in the summer, basketball in fall and winter, a golf outing in the spring. Our Men’s Club also hosts a couple of the parish’s marquee social events of the year - the St. Patrick’s Day Dance, which is always on the Saturday evening before St. Patrick’s Day, AND the Night at the Races in January.

We are a praying parish and a caring parish. We have two ministries that exist under those two titles that are dedicated to praying for people and situations that are need of prayer, and showing support through greeting cards and other means when appropriate.

St. Patrick is known mostly as a young parish -- half of our 4,000 members are 35 years of age or younger. But one of the fastest growing parish organizations during the past two years is our Leprechaun group, for adults 65 and older. They are a fun-loving, mutually supportive group that not only knows how to throw a good party but they also play important roles as servants and leaders. They meet on the first Thursday of most months for a potluck and a speaker, they join each other for lunch on the third Thursday monthly, and they take lots of interesting field trips to Glassworks, The Courier-Journal, Berea, Churchill Downs, and so forth. Leprechauns host one of the parish’s most excellent Christmas parties that you will never want to miss.

These are just a few of the many ministries and organizations of Parish Life. Choose a link below to learn about the varied ways to experience connection within the St. Patrick faith family.
