Dear Families,

We have 2 important events coming up before the school year is over - Field Day and The Great balloon Pop. Field Day is next Tuesday. We will collect money for the concession stand in advance. Please send $2 in an envelope with your child's name on it for a snack on Field Day. The Great Balloon pop is held on the last day of school and is used to raise money for the Crusade for Children. We are hoping for 100% participation on the part of the students.

In closing, it is hard to believe that this school year is almost over. It has been a wonderful year - one filled with many awesome memories. It has been an honor and a joy to be your child's teacher this year!

Language: These last 2 weeks of school we will finish reading our stories for enjoyment only. We will not have anymore spelling tests and the Language Tests will be optional. The comprehension graphic organizer are reviews of ones that we have been doing all year. Your child will bring home their books to share the stories with you.

Math: We will be working on 2 and 3 digit additons and subtraction in Chapter 12. We will not have a test over this chapter - you will want to practice these facts with your child over the summer.

Social Studies: Our "Farewell to Second Grade" speeches will begin this week. We will also "Roast" your child and send home their tape. 

Science - We are learning about our 5 senses and how they help us learn. 

Spelling: Focus - no more spelling this year!

Choose 15 words for the test. If your child attempts any other words and misspells them they will not count against them, but if they are successful they will earn 1 extra credit point.

HOMEWORK:

Read nightly for 10 minutes.

No homework - Enjoy reading a good book!    

TESTS: No tests

May 23 - Spirit Day

May 26 - No School - Memorial Day

May 27 - Field Day

May 28 - Last Day of School - 11:30 Dismissal
