Religion
Second Grade is a very special year with First Eucharist. This sacrament is the basis for our faith and is rich in the tradition of our church. We will begin the year with the book Joy, Joy the Mass. With this book we will learn the various parts of the Mass and the significance of each part. As we prepare for our First Communion we will use the book We Celebrate the Eucharist. Along with these books we will also celebrate prayer daily in a more personal way with short, simple prayers and reflections in a prayer journal. These journals will allow the students to express their love for God through writings and illustrations. We will also celebrate feast days, bible passages, and liturgical seasons with special journal activities, Mass and prayer services.
I am very honored to be a part of your child's faith journey this year. Below are a list of important First Eucharist dates:

When your child receives his or her Gold Book:
* You may want to write a note to your child on one
of the blank pages explaining how important this
sacrament and the Catholic faith is to you and your
family; maybe share memories of your First
Communion.
Send the book back to school. We will begin using the book
on Monday, October 22.
