Jambo! Nanga Def! Sani Bonani! Hello!  Welcome to Africa!

Africa is enormous and has over 50 countries, 1,000 languages and 3,000 different tribes.  It is famous for its wildlife, including lions, elephants, gorillas, giraffes and more.  It is home to some of the most unusual insects and animals to walk the Earth.  The Sahara Desert in the north is one of the driest places on Earth, and the rainforest of the Congo is one of the wettest. From the highest peak of Mount Kilimanjaro to the depths of Lake Assal, from modern cities to ancient tribal cultures, Africa is filled with contrasts and variety.  It is truly a magical place with lots to learn about, discover and enjoy.  This year the “World Wise Students” will be learning more about this fascinating continent.  During September and October we will be looking at the geography and the animals of Africa.  At the end of October we will have a festival celebrating these two topics in Schindler Hall.

The Indianapolis Museum of Art has a wonderful interactive online exhibit on Africa. Visit it at this link:
