Keyboarding is Important

Image

The Archdiocesan Technology Guidelines suggest that students be able to type a number of words per minute as follows:
            6th Grade:  20 wpm
            7th Grade:  25 wpm
            8th Grade:  30 wpm
Though class time will not be spent on practicing keyboarding, a test will be given every other week to assess students' improvement.  A baseline test has been given. Students should spend at least 10 minutes every evening practicing their keyboarding.

During the week of November 6, the students will take their final test and be graded on it according to the number of wpm they scored and based on the above guidelines.

The Internet has several great sources for keyboarding practice. Practice should consist of lessons and games.
The websites that I suggest are:

www.mrkent.com
-Click on “Typing Tutor II (new)"
-Choose timing, lesson, and speed levels that you want.
                     -Begin typing
There are typing tests and games on this website.
      *Try the Balloon Blast game!
