About Computer Class
The computer classes at St. Patrick School are an extension of the regular classroom. The classes are designed to teach the students computer skills while supporting the curriculum that is being taught in the classroom. St. Patrick's technology curriculum is aligned with the Louisville Archdiocesan Technology Content Guidelines and with the National Education Technology Standards.
St. Patrick's school year is divided into trimesters, each lasting 12 weeks. Each class in grades K-8 is scheduled into the Computer Lab for one trimester. The classroom teacher can also schedule time to use the lab for a project, either with the whole class, a small group or an individual student. The lab is also open for student use from 7:30-8:00 each morning and after school.
The software programs that are used by the students in grades K-2 are KidPix Deluxe 3 and KidKeys. Students in grades 3-8 use Microsoft Office 2000 Pro (Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, FrontPage, PowerPoint and PhotoDraw), Sunburst's Type to Learn and Tom Snyder's TimeLiner. Numerous excellent websites are also used daily with all students.
Some good search engines that will help students with research are:
