Parents
Each day as we begin our time together in music (except Kindergarten - they are using a different prayer/peace builder song) we sing "PEACE IS FLOWING LIKE A RIVER". This prayer/peace builder song helps us focus on who we are--- PeaceBuilders and what we are about; sharing the peace of Christ at home, at school and in our community each day.
SO:
As we train the mouth (voice) to sing music this year. Your child may discover that it is somewhat difficult to sing the higher pitches.
You can help facilitate them learning to use a light HIGH voice by "throwing the ball"
That is: have the voice imitate a ball as it climbs higher and then begins to return to the ground by making a swooping lower sound. They should continue singing this as long as the ball is airborne.
Another way to help discover their higher voice is by imitating a new-born kitten. If it sounds more like a mature cat or a "calf" then help them use a tiny, squeeky sound. In general it is best to begin singing HIGH sounds and bring them down rather than begin low and try to MAKE them go high.
