Welcome to St. Patrick’s
Counseling Program
There are many ways we try to care for the emotional, social, behavioral and academic needs and health of children here at St. Patrick. Some of what I do is to talk with children individually when a need arises. This is done in partnership with parents and teachers to insure everyone is working toward the same goal. I am also available to parents, as anything happening in a family, good or troublesome, affects everyone in the family. Another area of importance is small group mediation here at school and classroom guidance support on an as needed basis.
Programs we have in place are PeaceBuilders, Archdiocesan Good Touch/Bad Touch for K-6, Ophelia for 6th grade girls and the corresponding program for boys in the 6th grade, and the Duke TIP for 4th, 5th, 7th grades.
PeaceBuilders is a school-wide and home based program which teaches the principles of the PeaceBuilders Pledge which we say each morning with announcements and prayer. A copy of this is on page 6 of the parent/student handbook.
Good Touch/Bad Touch is a body safety program teaching children how to protect themselves from sexual abuse and bullying.
Ophelia and it’s male counterpart addresses ways to maintain a sense of self as children enter middle school.
Duke TIP is an academic award program from Duke University based on Terra Nova scores.
