Gather the Children

“Gather the Children” allows children in Grades One and Two the opportunity to learn how to worship at Mass.  It is the children’s Liturgy of the Word, a replication of the adult Liturgy of the Word offered in language children can understand.  Gather the Children typically begins in September and  continues through April/May during the 11 a.m. Sunday Mass.

Parents of children younger than four are encouraged you to use our Nursery program.Parents of children in four through Kindergarten are encouraged to register for Sunday School, which happens during the 11 a.m. Sunday Mass.Registration is listed under the Learning tab of the St. Patrick website.

The purpose of Gather is to create an optimal experience for children to be formed by the scriptures.  Children eligible to participate are invited to come forward with their adult leaders after the opening prayer at the 11 a.m. Mass. They receive a blessing from the presider or attending deacon and then proceed to a designated classroom which has been set up as a prayer space. The adult leader proclaims the scripture readings and children have an opportunity to engage in what they heard.  After singing a responsorial psalm, praying the Creed and the Prayers of the Faithful, all adapted to their level of understanding, they rejoin their families in the adult assembly.

Gather the Children is a co-op program requiring registration and parent volunteers.Once registered, you we ask that you access the teaching schedule (listed below) and choose which will allow you to choose dates to teach the class throughout the year. All teaching materials are provided.  Registration and teaching sign-up links are listed below.
