First Reconciliation is celebrated by second-grade children and their parents in the fall. Our sacramental preparation process is carried out through a partnership between parents and the parish. Parents fulfill eight simple lessons with their child. Each lesson takes about 30 minutes. The lessons can be found in the text First Reconciliation: Pardon and Peace published by RCL Benziger. The parish provides a workbook for each child. Parents can access an online teaching guide to help them fulfill the lessons with their child. All materials are provided and explained by the Director of Lifelong Formation and Education during two parent meetings. The child and at least one parent also participate in two 90-minute workshops that utilize a number of stories and activities to review content about the sacrament and rehearse with the children. The sacrament is celebrated during a communal rite from 6:30 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, November 16, 2016 in the Church. If families have a conflict with Nov. 16, they can celebrate the sacrament from 4 to 4:30 p.m. on any Saturday. Childcare is provided during the parent meetings and for the workshops if a need for those services has been made known. There is no fee for this service.
